A Mending Shift

a bird sings, not because if has an answer to give, but because it has a song to sing … this is my song

about

I am created in the image of God. I am forgiven by him, at peace with him and am his child (as are you).

I am a son to two parents who would give their life for me if called upon (thanks mom and dad).

I am the husband of one beautiful, sensitive and deeply caring woman (I love you Jen).

I am the father of three children whom I would give my life for (Caleb, you make me proud and are a great lover of God and people. Ashlyn, you are the most adorable girl I know…some guy is going to be VERY lucky. Scout, you’re big beautiful blue eyes stop time and you’re so dang easy-going!).

I am also a Golden Retriever owner (Cheddar…woof, woof, arf).

I live in Folsom, CA (yes, the home of that prison made famous by Johnny Cash) where I have a great group of friends whom I love, accept and enjoy; jazzed, as I am often more of an observer of how God is working in their hearts and lives to draw them to Him. I am currently working at VSP/Eyefinity as a web design specialist.

I prefer Facebook over MySpace.

My motivational spiritual gift is that of a prophet. I am an INFP (see this page for more info on INFP).

This blog focuses on how we can join God in his work of mending—as well as some random stuff I find thoughtful, funny, or interesting—which is going on all around us, in and outside of the church.  All we have to do is live in tune to God’s song in our life and the world. This mending, I have found, often comes with a shift in thinking and living.

So, now that you know a bit more “about” me, I would love to know more about you. I’d love to hear, or read, your story. Who knows, maybe we can even sit down over a cup of coffee and move beyond knowing “about” each other, to knowing each other—I feel God wants the same in his friendship with us.

    Jeromy,
This has little to do with anything but your blog name reminded me of something funny McLaren said once about his blog. In an interview he invited people to his website, DeepShift and said, “don’t forget the ‘f’”

    haha.

    peace,
    Chad

  • http://mendingshift.wordpress.com Jeromy

Well, I am sure some think it is a Mending Shift without the “F”. But a lot seem to resonate with it as well. Too funny.

  • Chad

lol. It fits me pretty well :P

    Hi Jeromy,

I am busy working on a dissertation. I saw the article on What If the Church was Invisible? March 3/08. I would like to include your article in the appendix of my dissertation. I believe that it is open for use as long as credit is given to the author but I thought that I would write and ask permission anyway.
I could not find a personal email spot on your site so here’s my request.

    Thanks, Barb

    Hi Barb,

Sure, feel free to use it. Thanks for your integrity. What is your dissertation about? Do you mind sending me a copy when it is done? I would love to read it. I’ll email you with my email address.

    Jeromy,
Thank you very much for your blog. I stumbled across as I was looking for some information on the emerging church. I included your thoughts on “How God Views the World” on my blog. Wonderful insight.

    Hi,

I would like to share with you a good ebook that’s free to help pastors and their wives with discouragement and burnout. You can find it at: http://www.stoppastorburnout.com . It’s quite helpful.

If you have pastor friends or even their wives, we are currently inviting pastors and pastor wives to join charter membership club for free for 2 months, you might want to share this with them. You may visit http://www.susandavidlifecoach.com/index.php/sponsors for more information.

We would also like to invite you to view our video on this topic at
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miF-R0bCz0A.

Feel free to share this with your friends or people you care for.

    Thanks,

    Susan David

Hi Jeromy!  My apologies, but I wasn’t able to find another way to contact you (apart from Facebook, but it’s been acting up on me tonight). Anyway, Mike Morrell and I really appreciate your blog, and think you’d be an excellent candidate for our Speakeasy Blogger Network. Do you like to review off-the-beaten path faith, spirituality, and culture books? Speakeasy puts interesting books in your hands at no charge to you. You only get books when you request them, and it’s free to join. Sign up here, if you’d like: http://thespeakeasy.info

You’re not on any contact lists, I promise; if you don’t respond, that’s it, and the invitation is open as long as you’re actively blogging.  Hope you join us!

Hey Philip, thanks for the invitation but I am not actively blogging nor have the time to review books. Peace.
